Different types of reinforcement have been used in concrete since concrete was first used for structural applications. Today, there are many different types of reinforcement available including steel with different chemical compositions, strengths, and coatings, and fiber reinforced polymers. Different types of reinforcement may be beneficial for different applications. This presentation will give a brief survey of different types of reinforcement including possible applications where it may be beneficial to use certain types.
