Speaker Biography
Lance Malburg is currently the Engineer at the Dickinson County Road Commission. Prior to joining the Dickinson County Road Commission team, he was the Engineer - Manager at the Oceana County Road Commission.
He has over 32 years’ experience in Civil Engineering with over 29 years’ experience in local agency project management, over 23 years of that was either as a County Highway Engineer or Engineer - Manager at a Road Commission. His other local agency experience was working for various cities. Along with design & construction inspection, a major part of his job has always been finding ways to stretch funding. This has meant along with grant research, he has spent much time looking for non-traditional methods and materials to be used in road and bridge construction.
As an outside of the box thinker, he has found ways to get things done that others would not or could not do.
He gives back to other engineers and the profession of County Engineering in both Michigan and nationally.

- Member of TRB committee AKP-30 The Standing Committee on Asphalt Pavement Design and Rehabilitation
- Member of TRB committee AKD-30 The Standing Committee on Low Volume Roads
- Past Chairman of the NACE Pavement Preservation Committee
- Member of the NACE Unpaved Roads Committee
- Member of the Michigan Scrap Tire Advisory Committee
- Member the County Road Association of Michigan Engineering Committee.
- Several County Road Association of Michigan subcommittees
Also, he is an advisor for the MTU class CE 4905 - Engineering Design Project, where he works with students to deliver real projects.
He is a Michigan Tech Alumni (Go Huskies!!) and a PE in both Michigan & Illinois
