Tom Klasner has served as the County Engineer for Jersey County, Illinois for 22 years. He was appointed to the Jersey County Engineer position in 2003 after working for fourteen years as a consulting engineer. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, receiving his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1988. Tom served as the Illinois Association of County Engineers President in 2012 and Illinois State Director to the National Association of County Engineers from 2016 to 2023.
Tom has served on several committees for both the Illinois Association of County Engineers and the National Association of County Engineers. In 2017 Tom was recognized as the Rural County Engineer of the Year by the National Association of County Engineers. In 2015 the Illinois Association of County Engineers recognized Tom as the Zone III County Engineer of the Year.
Tom and his wife, Michelle, have been married for 22 years and have three sons. He enjoys spending time with family, coaching soccer and golfing.
