Speaker Bio
Greg has 34 years of experience working in County government. He worked for Manitowoc County for 17 years starting as a heavy equipment operator and advancing to Operations Manager. In 2006, Greg was hired to lead the Sheboygan County Transportation Department as the Transportation Director (or County Highway Commissioner). His responsibilities included construction and maintenance of 450 miles of county trunk highway, administering the Wisconsin DOT’s routine maintenance agreement on the state highways in Sheboygan County, monitoring the County’s bridge program, as well as overseeing the Sheboygan County Memorial Airport. During his time in highway operations, Greg was involved in the Wisconsin County Highway Association-serving on the Board of Directors and various other committees in the organization.
In Greg’s current role as Sales Representative with Asphalt Materials, Inc./HG Meigs, his focus is collaborating with the 15 County-owned and operated hot mix asphalt plants in the state of Wisconsin, as well as promoting pavement preservation products, such as J-Band, that are designed to increase and extend the life cycle of the road to 30 years and beyond.
Greg loves to spend time outside working with his bees and creating rock gardens. Greg and his wife Cheryl enjoy wine tasting and antiquing (sometimes at the same time). Whatever remaining time he has available, their 8-year-old chocolate lab consumes. Greg and Cheryl have two adult children: Natalie and Macintyre.
Eight months into his new career, Greg enjoys traveling the State of Wisconsin--meeting with people who have the ability to make good things happen and providing the resources to do what they already do, even better.
